August 3, 2005 - Ask anyone and everyone in Atlanta about streetball and the first words out of there mouth are Run and Shoot. This is it. The center of the universe for those into the dunks, dribbles and shoots of the southeastern United States. How well known is Run and Shoot? When we were in New York, players there were mentioning it in the same breath as the legendary Rucker Park. Nearly everyone who competed in Chicago knew of this streetball mecca of Atlanta.
According to police officer and streetballer Tyrone Dennis a.k.a "Robocop" it is a place where people from all over the country bring their unique styles. He should know, he played his high school ball outside of St. Louis, college ball in Illinois and Alabama and professional ball in Columbia (South America, not South Carolina).
While our tour stop in Atlanta was Central Park, our players were straight out of Run and Shoot. Watching High Riser and the crew from Atlanta, it is just plain obvious that Run and Shoot is a the first stop for any hoopaholic. |
